Terms of Service
Review the AppDeploy by ScotiTech terms of service for private app distribution workspaces.
Last Updated: 15 October 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of AppDeploy by ScotiTech, a service operated by ScotiTech Solutions Limited ("AppDeploy", "we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in Scotland under company number SC829021.
By accessing, registering for, or using AppDeploy by ScotiTech, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Order of precedence. Where you and we have signed an order form, statement of work, or other commercial agreement, and it conflicts with these Terms, that signed document prevails for the subject matter it covers. Our Data Processing Agreement prevails over both on the subject of data protection.
2. Eligibility
You represent that:
- you are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
- you have authority to act for the organisation using the service
- you are using the service for the purposes of your organisation's trade, business or profession, and not as a consumer
- the information you provide is accurate and current
- you will use the service in compliance with applicable law
3. Service Scope
AppDeploy provides software for internal app distribution, branded organisation pages, mobile device management (including device enrolment, configuration profiles, OS update management, and administrator-initiated device actions), workspace administration, release management, audit logging, a public API and webhooks, billing, and related operational tooling.
The Free, AppDeploy and Distribution plans described in section 6B are hosted by AppDeploy. Enterprise services are also hosted by AppDeploy and may be subject to a separate quote, statement of work, order form, or commercial agreement.
4. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for:
- maintaining accurate account information
- keeping login credentials confidential
- restricting access to authorised users only
- notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorised access or security incidents affecting your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account unless caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care.
5. Acceptable Use
You must not use AppDeploy to:
- distribute unlawful, malicious, deceptive, or infringing software
- attempt unauthorised access to other customers, systems, or infrastructure
- upload malware, harmful code, or content designed to disrupt the service
- misuse the service to violate Apple, Google, or other third-party platform rules
- enrol or manage a device you do not own or lack authority to manage
- interfere with service operation, security, or availability
- abuse the API, webhooks, or rate limits, or share API keys outside your organisation
We may suspend or remove content, users, or workspaces that breach these Terms or create legal, operational, or security risk.
6. Customer Content
You retain ownership of the content, applications, branding assets, and materials you upload to AppDeploy.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive right to host, process, transmit, and display that content only as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal or operational obligations.
You are responsible for ensuring that your content:
- is lawful
- does not infringe third-party rights
- is authorised for distribution through the workflows you use
6A. Device Management Responsibilities
Where you use AppDeploy's device management features:
- you confirm your organisation owns, or has clear authority to manage, every device you enrol
- you are responsible for providing device users with any information or notices required by employment and data-protection law in your jurisdiction, including what management can and cannot see (AppDeploy surfaces an accurate summary on the enrolment page)
- destructive actions — clearing a passcode, erasing a device, Return to Service — are initiated solely by your administrators, are protected by additional confirmation and authentication steps, and are executed on your instruction; you are responsible for the decision to run them
- you will not use device management to monitor individuals beyond what the platform exposes, or attempt to extract personal content from managed devices
6B. Plans, Trial and Devices
Plans. AppDeploy is offered on the plans below. Our pricing page and your workspace's billing settings show what each plan includes. Prices are in GBP and exclude taxes (section 8). The prices below apply at the date of these Terms; section 9 governs changes.
- Free. No charge and no payment card. Up to 5 managed devices, with device enrolment, installing apps you upload and Apple Business apps on devices from the admin screen, sending Web Clips to iPhones and iPads, security settings, OS updates, and lock and erase on eligible devices. Up to 10 apps and 5 invited teammates. Help is self-serve (section 15). The Free plan does not include the branded app store or release controls.
- AppDeploy. A paid plan for devices, with no base fee and no minimum. You pay for each device in your device allowance beyond the 5 free devices: £1 per device a month, or £10 per device a year. It includes device management for the devices in your allowance, installing apps you upload and Apple Business apps on enrolled devices, sending Web Clips to enrolled iPhones and iPads, unlimited apps subject to fair use, and email support. It does not include the branded app store or release controls, which come with Distribution.
- Distribution. A paid plan for the branded app store: £29 a month, or £219 a year, whether or not your workspace manages devices. It includes the branded app store (with your logo and an optional custom domain) and release controls (Release Guard checks, Risk Forecast, Evidence Packs and the release upload API), with unlimited apps subject to fair use. Distribution does not change your device allowance: the 5 free devices stay included, and you can add devices on the AppDeploy plan. If you have both plans, they are billed on one subscription, with the same billing period.
- Enterprise. Features, price and terms by separate written agreement (section 1). Features reserved for Enterprise include single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, scheduled directory sync and Android app delivery.
Apps on managed devices. Apple Business apps are apps your organisation gets through Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager): Apps and Books licences, Custom Apps and App Store apps; they use licences from your organisation's Apple Business account. Apps you upload are app files you upload to AppDeploy yourself, such as in-house apps signed with your own certificate and signed installer packages; Web Clips are links to web apps. Every plan with device management, the Free plan included, installs apps you upload and Apple Business apps, and new versions of them, on enrolled devices, and sends Web Clips to enrolled iPhones and iPads. New versions of apps you upload pass an automatic safety check before they are sent.
Trial. A new workspace starts with a free 14-day trial. No payment card is needed. The trial includes the features of the AppDeploy and Distribution plans, within the trial limits shown at sign-up; at the date of these Terms these are 5 managed devices, 10 apps, 100 installs and 5 invited teammates. We may extend a trial. When the trial ends, the workspace moves to the Free plan automatically unless you have bought a paid plan. Nothing is charged when a trial ends. If you buy a paid plan during the trial, the trial ends and your workspace has the plans you bought.
Managed devices and your device allowance. A managed device is a device enrolled in your workspace's device management. Each managed device counts as one device; a Mac counts as one device. Your device allowance is the 5 free devices plus any devices you buy on the AppDeploy plan. A device cannot be enrolled beyond your allowance. To enrol a sixth device, buy devices in your workspace's billing settings (on an active Distribution subscription, see section 8); checkout asks for a payment card. When you buy, you choose your total allowance, at least 6, and you pay for each device in it beyond the 5 free devices, whether or not that many devices are enrolled. Buying Distribution does not change your device allowance.
Moving to the Free plan. A workspace moves to the Free plan when its trial ends without a purchase, or when its paid plan ends, for example after cancellation or after a subscription ends unpaid. Moving to the Free plan does not close your workspace or delete your data; your devices, apps and records stay. On the Free plan:
- the branded app store is not available to your staff, and release controls are not available
- your device allowance returns to 5 devices. If more than 5 devices are enrolled, they stay enrolled and keep their settings, and device actions (lock, Lost Mode, passcode clear and erase), security settings and OS updates keep working. New enrolments, new app deployments, app removals and profile changes are paused until you buy devices or remove devices
- the Free plan's limits on apps and invited teammates apply
If Distribution ends while devices you bought on the AppDeploy plan continue, the branded app store and release controls stop when Distribution ends; your devices, and the apps installed on them, are not affected.
You can buy a paid plan at any time in your workspace's billing settings. This paragraph does not apply to Enterprise, whose agreement governs what happens when it ends.
Fair use. Unlimited apps on a paid plan are subject to fair use. One workspace is for one organisation and its Apple Business account. Apps and installs in a workspace are for that organisation's own people, contractors and clients. A workspace must not be used for public, app-store-style distribution. Each separate organisation needs its own workspace. We will contact you before we apply any limit.
One workspace per organisation. We may refuse a new workspace for an organisation, or an email domain, that already has an active workspace.
7. Subscription Term and Renewal
Initial term. Your subscription begins when you first activate a paid plan and runs for the billing period you select — one month for monthly plans, twelve months for annual plans. The Free plan has no term and does not renew; it continues until your workspace is closed.
Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods of the same length unless cancelled in accordance with this section.
Notice to prevent renewal:
- Monthly plans — cancel at any time before the end of the current billing period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of that period.
- Annual plans — give notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Notice given later than 30 days before renewal takes effect at the end of the following renewal period.
You may cancel through your workspace subscription settings or by emailing info@scotitech.com. We will confirm cancellation in writing. If you do not receive confirmation within two business days, treat the cancellation as not yet received and contact us.
When a cancelled subscription ends, your workspace moves to the Free plan (section 6B); section 10 explains how to close your workspace.
8. Billing and Payment
For paid plans (AppDeploy and Distribution):
- subscriptions may be billed monthly or annually, in advance
- all standard pricing is billed in GBP unless otherwise agreed in writing
- payment processing may be handled by Stripe or another authorised payment provider
- on the AppDeploy plan, a workspace has 5 free managed devices; each further device in your device allowance is billed per device on your subscription, and a Mac counts as one device
For Enterprise services, billing terms may be set out in a separate commercial agreement, including invoice and purchase-order billing.
Changing your device allowance. You can raise or lower your device allowance on the AppDeploy plan in your workspace's billing settings. An increase is charged straight away for the rest of the current billing period, pro rata. A reduction takes effect at your next renewal date; no refund is given for the current billing period. You cannot reduce your allowance below 6 devices or below the number of devices enrolled; to return to the 5 free devices, cancel your subscription (section 7) or, if it also includes Distribution, email info@scotitech.com. To change between monthly and annual billing on an active subscription, email info@scotitech.com.
Adding a plan to an active subscription. You can add Distribution to an active AppDeploy subscription, or add devices to an active Distribution subscription, by emailing info@scotitech.com or, where your workspace's billing settings offer it, in those settings. The addition uses your subscription's billing period and is charged straight away for the rest of the current period, pro rata. To remove Distribution from a subscription that also pays for devices, email info@scotitech.com; it ends at your next renewal date unless we agree otherwise.
Your workspace's subscription. Your workspace's plan follows the subscription recorded on it: the one you buy through checkout in AppDeploy, or one we set up with you in writing. A payment for any other subscription does not change your workspace's plan. If you think you have been charged for a subscription that is not recorded on your workspace, contact us; section 11 applies if we have billed you in error.
Late payment. Invoices are due on the date stated on the invoice. We may charge interest on overdue amounts at the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, being 8% above the Bank of England base rate, accruing daily from the due date until payment. We will give you at least 7 days' written notice before suspending access for non-payment, except where the account shows signs of fraud or chargeback abuse. If a subscription ends unpaid, your workspace moves to the Free plan (section 6B). After that, paying an invoice of the ended subscription does not restore the paid plan; to return to a paid plan, buy it again in your workspace's billing settings.
Taxes. Prices are in GBP and exclude VAT, GST and other sales taxes, which are added at checkout where they apply. ScotiTech Solutions Limited is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged at present and our invoices say so.
9. Changes to Pricing
We will not increase the price of an active subscription during a paid term.
Where a price change affects your subscription at renewal, we will give you at least 60 days' written notice before the renewal date. For annual subscriptions, any increase at renewal is capped at the greater of 5% or the increase in the UK Consumer Prices Index over the preceding twelve months, unless you have expanded scope, users, or device capacity.
If you do not accept a price increase, you may prevent renewal under section 7 and your subscription ends at the close of the current term.
Plans bought before 14 October 2026. If your workspace had a paid Essentials or Business subscription before 14 October 2026, it continues on the same plan, features and price until the end of its current billing period. At renewal, an Essentials subscription keeps the branded app store and its Apple Business apps, without device management or release controls, at the same amount, which from then on excludes taxes (section 8), until it moves to Distribution by agreement; a Business subscription keeps its base price; and any extra device capacity is charged at the AppDeploy per-device rate in section 6B. We will give you notice of these changes as this section requires. Any founding-offer discount already applied to your subscription continues as agreed.
10. Cancellation and Termination
Termination for convenience — you. You may end a paid plan by preventing renewal under section 7; your workspace then moves to the Free plan. You may end these Terms at any time by asking us in writing to close your workspace (info@scotitech.com). Unless we have materially breached these Terms, termination for convenience does not shorten the term you have already paid for.
Termination for convenience — us. We may terminate a paid-plan subscription by giving you at least 90 days' written notice. Where we do, we will refund a pro-rata share of any prepaid fees covering the period after termination.
Termination for cause. Either party may terminate immediately by written notice if the other:
- commits a material breach of these Terms that is capable of being remedied and fails to remedy it within 30 days of written notice describing the breach; or
- commits a material breach that cannot be remedied; or
- becomes insolvent, enters administration, liquidation, receivership, or an equivalent process, or ceases to carry on business.
"Material breach" means, for the avoidance of doubt:
- by you — non-payment of undisputed invoices more than 30 days overdue; breach of section 5 (Acceptable Use); breach of section 6A (Device Management Responsibilities); infringement of our intellectual property; or a breach of confidentiality obligations.
- by us — a persistent failure to make the service available such that it is unusable for more than five consecutive business days; an unremedied breach of our data protection obligations under the DPA; a breach of confidentiality obligations; or a failure to pay a refund properly due.
Effect of termination for our breach. If you terminate because we have materially breached, we will refund a pro-rata share of prepaid fees covering the unused remainder of the term.
11. Refunds
Free trial and Free plan. No payment is taken during the 14-day trial or on the Free plan, and no payment card is needed for either. When a trial ends, your workspace moves to the Free plan (section 6B) and you are not charged.
Monthly subscriptions. Fees already paid for the current month are non-refundable. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
Annual subscriptions. Prepaid annual fees are non-refundable where you terminate for convenience. You keep access until the end of the paid term.
Refunds are given where: you terminate because we have materially breached (pro-rata, per section 10); we terminate for convenience (pro-rata, per section 10); or we have billed you in error.
Statutory rights. Nothing in this section affects rights you have under law that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.
12. Suspension
We may suspend access where reasonably necessary for:
- non-payment, following the notice in section 8
- breach of these Terms
- a security risk to the service, to you, or to other customers
- misuse of the service
- legal or regulatory compliance
Where practical, we will give notice before suspension and a reasonable opportunity to resolve the cause. We may suspend immediately, without prior notice, where there is an active security threat, suspected fraud, or a legal obligation requiring it — and we will notify you as soon as we reasonably can afterwards.
Suspension does not by itself terminate your subscription, and we will restore access promptly once the cause is resolved.
13. Data Export and Deletion on Termination
Moving to the Free plan. A workspace that moves to the Free plan under section 6B has not been terminated and has not expired for the purposes of this section. Its data stays in the workspace.
Export window. For 30 days after termination or expiry, we retain your workspace data in read-only form so that you can export it. During this window you can export, at no additional charge:
- your uploaded applications and binaries
- your device, user, and enrolment records
- your audit logs and reports
in machine-readable formats (CSV and JSON) through the workspace export function or the API. If you need assistance or a bulk export, contact support during the window and we will help.
Deletion. After the export window closes, we delete your data in accordance with clause 11 of our Data Processing Agreement — normally within a further 30 days, and in any event within 60 days of the end of the export window. We may retain limited billing records and audit-log fingerprints where required by law, and these remain protected under the DPA.
Deletion confirmation. On written request made within 90 days of termination, we will provide written confirmation that deletion has been completed.
14. Availability, Maintenance and Changes
We aim to operate the service reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Scheduled maintenance. We aim to give at least 48 hours' notice of scheduled maintenance and to carry it out outside UK business hours where practical. Scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance necessary to preserve security or integrity, and downtime caused by factors outside our reasonable control are excluded from availability measurement.
Changes to the service. We may modify features, and improve, replace, or remove parts of the service. Where a change materially reduces core functionality you rely on, we will give at least 60 days' notice, and if the change materially disadvantages you, you may terminate and receive a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused remainder of the term.
15. Service Levels and Support
Availability objective. We publish a 99.9% monthly availability service level objective (SLO), calculated from the same retained telemetry that powers our public status page. The SLO is a published operational target and a commitment to transparency about our performance. Under the Free, AppDeploy and Distribution plans it is not a contractual service level agreement and does not carry service credits. Enterprise customers may negotiate a contractual SLA, including service credits and remedies, as part of a commercial agreement.
Support. Support is provided by email. On paid plans, our target response times, measured during UK business hours (09:00–17:30 Monday to Friday, excluding Scottish public holidays), are:
| Severity | Description | Target first response |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Service unavailable, or app distribution blocked for all users | 4 business hours |
| High | Major function impaired, no workaround | 1 business day |
| Normal | Function impaired with a workaround, or configuration help | 2 business days |
| Low | Question, feature request, or documentation issue | 3 business days |
These are response targets, not resolution guarantees. Enterprise customers may negotiate enhanced support terms, including named contacts and out-of-hours cover.
Free plan. On the Free plan, help is self-serve: our guides, in-product help and the status page. We answer email from Free workspaces about billing, security and account access; other questions are self-serve, and the response targets above do not apply.
16. Intellectual Property
We own all rights in the AppDeploy platform, including the software, designs, trademarks, branding, and related materials, except for customer content.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of the platform to you. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the service during an active subscription, a trial, use of the Free plan, or another authorised access period.
Feedback. If you give us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it to improve and develop our products, without obligation or attribution. This does not give us any right to your confidential information or customer content.
17. Data Processing
Where we process personal data on your behalf, we act as processor and you act as controller. Our Data Processing Agreement (DPA) applies automatically to every customer and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. It is published at `/dpa` and sets out our obligations under Article 28 of the UK GDPR, including security measures, sub-processor controls, breach notification, audit rights, and deletion.
You do not need to request the DPA for it to apply. If your procurement process requires a countersigned copy, contact info@scotitech.com and we will provide one.
Our current sub-processors are published at `/sub-processors`. We give at least 30 days' notice before adding or replacing a sub-processor, and you may object on reasonable data-protection grounds. If we cannot resolve a reasonable objection, you may terminate the affected part of the service and receive a pro-rata refund.
18. Confidentiality
Each party agrees to keep the other's confidential information — including pricing, technical details, account data, and business information — confidential and to use it only for the purpose of using or providing the service. This obligation does not apply to information that is publicly available, independently developed, or required to be disclosed by law. It continues for three years after termination.
19. Privacy
Your use of AppDeploy is also governed by our Privacy Policy, published at `/privacy`, which describes how we collect and process personal data in connection with operating the service.
20. Warranties and Disclaimers
We warrant that we will provide the service with reasonable skill and care, and in accordance with these Terms.
Otherwise, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, AppDeploy is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis:
- we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability
- we do not guarantee that third-party services or integrations will always remain available or unchanged
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded.
21. Our Intellectual Property Indemnity
We will defend you against any third-party claim that your permitted use of the AppDeploy platform infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, and we will pay damages finally awarded against you or agreed in settlement by us, provided that you:
- notify us promptly in writing of the claim
- give us sole control of the defence and settlement
- provide reasonable cooperation, at our expense
If the platform becomes, or we reasonably believe it may become, the subject of such a claim, we may at our option procure the right for you to continue using it, modify it to be non-infringing, or terminate the affected part of the service and refund prepaid fees for the unused remainder of the term.
This indemnity does not apply to claims arising from your content, your modifications, your combination of the platform with anything we did not supply, or your use in breach of these Terms.
22. Your Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from:
- your unlawful use of the service
- your breach of these Terms
- your content or distribution activities infringing third-party rights
- your enrolment or management of devices without proper ownership or authority
23. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or anticipated savings.
General cap. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service will not exceed the fees paid by you to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Enhanced cap. For claims arising from our breach of our data protection obligations under the DPA, or under our intellectual property indemnity in section 21, our aggregate liability will not exceed 200% of the fees paid by you to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Uncapped. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes either party's liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- wilful misconduct
- your obligation to pay fees properly due
- any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. The courts of Scotland will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For Enterprise customers, we are willing to discuss English law and the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales as part of a commercial agreement.
Before commencing proceedings, each party agrees to escalate the dispute in good faith to a senior representative of the other and to allow 30 days for resolution, except where urgent injunctive relief is needed.
25. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, where a change is material, give you at least 30 days' notice by email to your workspace administrator or by notice in the dashboard.
If a material change materially disadvantages you and you do not accept it, you may terminate before it takes effect and receive a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused remainder of the term. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
