For startups
Buying Macs and iPhones is easy. Managing them as a business isn’t.
For startups growing from 4 people towards 400: set up company Macs, iPhones and iPads, give people their apps and see what each device reports.

From 4 people towards 400
At four people, you set up each laptop yourself. As you grow, new starters wait for apps, updates slip, and leavers keep work phones. Then a customer asks, “How do you protect our data?”
The founder becomes the IT help desk, and nobody has the full picture.
AppDeploy puts the everyday work in one dashboard: device setup, shared settings, work apps and the status each device reports.
Start with a small team and organise settings and apps by group as you grow.
From the first working day to the last
- New starters: set up apps and settings once for a group, then add each new starter’s laptop or phone to it instead of repeating the setup.
- Devices: see each device’s model, software version, reported security status and last check-in, and spot the ones that have stopped checking in.
- Security: apply passcode and screen-lock rules to iPhones and iPads, and a Mac baseline for the firewall, Gatekeeper and screen lock. See which Macs report FileVault on.
- Updates: see which iPhones, iPads and Macs are behind the latest Apple release, so you know which ones to chase.
- Leavers: remove their access to your apps and their work apps, then lock or erase their company iPhone or iPad. Each step is a separate action, recorded in the audit log.
- Work apps: install apps on enrolled company devices, and list them in a branded app portal. See each install’s status, and reinstall, update or remove an app.
When a customer asks, “How do you protect our data?”
Show what each device reports, such as software version, update status and security settings, instead of a hand-kept spreadsheet and a promise. Download a compliance snapshot as CSV.
The same records help when a customer’s security questionnaire or your insurer asks about company laptops and phones.
Admin actions such as sign-ins, role changes, app deployments and device actions are kept in append-only audit logs.
AppDeploy shows the device side. Your own policies and processes cover the rest.

What it costs
Up to 5 devices are free, with no time limit. Beyond 5, each device is £1 a month or £10 a year, so 20 devices cost £15 a month.
Each Mac counts as one device, the same as an iPhone or iPad.
Prices in GBP, excluding VAT, GST and other sales taxes, which are added at checkout where they apply. If your card is in another currency, your card provider converts the charge.
The startup offer
- The first 14 days include everything, and up to 5 devices stay free afterwards; a Mac counts as one. No card, and nothing is charged unless you add devices beyond 5.
- Trial limits: 10 apps, 100 installs and 5 invited teammates. The Free plan keeps the 10 apps and 5 teammates, with no install limit.
- Pay monthly or yearly and cancel in your billing settings; you keep what you paid for to the end of the period, then the workspace moves to the Free plan.
- Your price can’t rise during a paid term, and any rise at renewal comes with 60 days’ notice.
- If you leave, you have 30 days to export your data.
- A free 30-minute setup call: we help you connect Apple Business and enrol your first device. Arrange it by emailing info@scotitech.com.
- Email support Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30 UK time, with a target first reply of 4 business hours for critical issues.
What to know before you start
- AppDeploy shows whether FileVault is on, but it does not collect or store FileVault recovery keys.
- On eligible Macs, AppDeploy support switches lock and erase on once your two-step verification policy covers administrators.
- Remote actions need an enrolled device that responds. Removing access and device actions are separate steps.
- AppDeploy does not include antivirus or third-party app patching.
- Macs need macOS 14 or later.
- Customer data is hosted in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Daily backups are kept on our server in Glasgow; encrypted off-server backups in the EU are being set up.
Frequently asked questions
- Which plan do we need?
- Start on Free: it manages up to 5 iPhones, iPads and Macs. When you have more devices, add them on the AppDeploy paid plan. Your own branded app store and release controls come with Distribution, with or without devices.
- Apple Business has built-in device management. Why pay for AppDeploy?
- Apple Business gives you the foundation: devices, accounts and app licences. AppDeploy builds on it with your own company apps and signed Mac packages, a view of where each install stands, the security status each Mac reports in one list, and email support.
- What do we need from Apple?
- Apple Business, Apple’s service for organisations, links your company’s devices, accounts and app licences. Apple verifies a new Apple Business account before you can use it, so set it up first. Apple Business is not offered in every country, so check Apple’s list for yours.
- Do our Macs need to be new?
- No. Macs need macOS 14 or later. Macs your company buys through Apple Business can enrol during setup once you assign them to AppDeploy in Apple Business; other Macs enrol with a link you send.
- Can we use AppDeploy wherever we are based?
- Yes, wherever Apple Business is offered. You sign up online. Prices are in GBP, support is by email Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30 UK time, customer data is hosted in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and the contract is with ScotiTech Solutions Limited under Scots law.
- What happens when the trial ends?
- Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted: the workspace moves to the Free plan, which covers up to 5 devices and keeps installing your apps on them. Your own app store and release controls pause until you add Distribution. Add devices beyond 5 when you need them.
- Can we talk to someone first?
- Yes. Book a 15-minute introduction using the call link, or email info@scotitech.com. The free 30-minute setup session is arranged separately by email.
